Scott Horne

Scott Horne is an experienced lawyer based in Edmonton, Alberta, who practises primarily in the areas of litigation and immigration.

Mr Horne has always excelled academically. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Yale University and his two degrees in law, both with highest honours, at McGill University. He has published legal scholarship, edited Canada’s leading law journal, and taught courses on law.

General litigation, both civil and criminal, is Mr Horne’s focus. He specialises in complex, difficult cases that call for sophisticated legal analysis and argument. Before practising law privately, he served as a judicial clerk to both the Court of Appeal of Québec and the Federal Court, where he recommended decisions to judges and acquired valuable insight into successful strategies for litigation at the appellate level. He has also worked as a Crown prosecutor.

In the area of immigration, Mr Horne has helped hundreds of people to come to Canada temporarily or permanently. He himself is an immigrant, having come to Canada from the United States as an adult.

Mr Horne proficiently speaks, reads, and writes English, French, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Latin. He also has a fair command of Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, German, and American Sign Language.
